SDU Students Organise a Festival for Children in Gelincik Village

Students from the Public Relations and Promotion Department of the Faculty of Communication at Süleyman Demirel University organised a meaningful event at Gelincik Village Primary School in Isparta as part of a social responsibility project. Titled ‘Gelincik Children's Festival,’ the project brought university students together with primary school students in the village, providing them with unforgettable moments through activities that combined both health and fun.

Within the scope of the project, oral and dental health screenings were conducted for students on 21 April with the participation of dentists. On the same day, students were informed about oral and dental health and were given toothbrushes and toothpaste as gifts.
The activities continued on 23 April, National Sovereignty and Children's Day. At the festival held in the schoolyard, various games, performances, and activities were organised, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the festive spirit. At the end of the day, children, their families, and the project team coloured the sky with kites during the kite festival.

Soner Çetinok, Principal of Gelincik Primary School, said in a statement regarding the events, ‘On this auspicious day, which is a symbol of our national sovereignty, we had a very meaningful holiday with our students, parents and all participants. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the events. May we celebrate many more 23 Aprils in the footsteps of Gazi Mustafa Kemal. May this holiday be joyful for everyone, young and old alike.’

The project team that organised the event expressed their great pleasure at being together with the children and said that sharing their joy was an unforgettable experience for them.
