Photographer Dr. Nevzat Yıldırım Meets Students at SDU

Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Fine Arts hosted internationally renowned photographer Dr. Nevzat Yıldırım. The event, held at the Saadet İkesus Altan Recital Hall, featured Dr. Yıldırım's presentation titled ‘Looking and Seeing: Understanding the Language of Photography Beyond the Visible,’ where he engaged with students.

The talk, organised in collaboration with the GSF Traditional Turkish Arts and Graphic Design Departments, attracted a large audience of faculty members, students and many participants interested in photography.

In his speech, Dr. Yıldırım emphasised that photography is not merely a technical tool, but also a powerful form of expression. He shared important insights on visual memory, aesthetic values, and the social reflections of art. The artist inspired young artists and provided the audience with different perspectives by touching upon current topics such as digital art and NFT.

During the question and answer session of the event, students asked questions about technical topics they were curious about and career planning. At the end of the programme, Dean Prof. Dr. Genç stated that photography is not just a technical process, but also a ‘labour of love,’ and presented Dr. Yıldırım with a certificate of appreciation and a gift. The programme continued with a practical photography workshop conducted with the students. During the workshop, students had the opportunity to experiment with different shooting techniques under the guidance of the artist and discover the narrative power of photography through hands-on experience.

Dr. Nevzat Yıldırım, an important artist whose works are included in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts collection and who has represented Turkey in many prestigious exhibitions, made valuable contributions to participants in both theoretical and practical terms with this event held at SDÜ.
